General questions on Phototherapy:

  1. What is biostimulation by light?

Biostimulation is a reactivation of cell functions so that regenerative processes can occur again. Over the skin and the eyes light enters the human body as energy oscillation. As a result, a great number of biological functions are stimulated and balanced. The visible light spectrum is able to influence skin, tissue and blood cells positively and therefore, is suitable for medical and cosmetic application as well as home therapy. Light induced effects at first, reach the skin, after which they are transported to the entire body. Affected cells optimize their function and improve their cell communication capability.

  2. What is polarized light?

Polarized light is light which only oscillates in one plane similar to laser light. In contrast to Q.Light® light, laser light consists of only a wavelength. This means that optical lasers emit monochromatic light (monochromatic = only one determined wavelength), while Q.Light® emits polychromatic light (poly chromatic = several different wavelengths). The light spectrum emitted by the Q.Light® device between a wavelength band of 385 to 1'700 nm.

  3. When and where was the biostimulation by light detected?

The first optical lasers which could achieve a biostimulating effect on human cells were developed in 1966. A team of physicists and doctors had implemented studies in 1981 the subject of the "Biological effects of Laser light". It was found that specific light parameters were decisive for biostimulation. These scientific results led to the evolution of different technologies for therapy with light. Under newest scientific guidelines, the Q.Light® light system was developed: Q.Light PRO UNIT for the professional user in the medical as well as cosmetic field, and other Q.Light devices for the end user as a home therapy device.

Questions on the Q.Light light therapy device:

  1. Can I do something wrong during Q.Light use?

Wrong handling at the most reduces the effectiveness of the therapy. Wrong application can not lead to health troubles!

  2. Must I consult a doctor before applying Q.Light?

No. If however no improvement should result from the treatment, you should ask the manufacturer, a doctor or a medical specialist with experience on light therapy.

  3. Must I be afraid about side effects?

No kind of unpleasant side effects are known as yet. It is advisable though to consult a doctor in the following cases before applying light therapy:

    • Pregnancy
    • Cancer
    • Over sensitivity to light
    • Intake of photo toxic medication
    • Heart surgery
  4. Can children also be treated with Q.Light?

Yes. For example with reddening caused by diapers, also during colds, inflammation and rash. Note that complementary treatment with light should be matched in individual cases with those treatments directed by a doctor or therapist.

  5. How should the skin be prepared?

The skin should be cleansed with a mild cleaning milk and/or with a skin tonic, to achieve optimal results. After light therapy, the skin can be treated with a nourishing skin care product or adequate product related to the health problem..

  6. Is the Q.Light light therapy harmless?

You must not be afraid to look directly into the Q.Light light?

The light of the Q.Light represents no danger for the eyes. In case of age damages of the eyes or strong sensitivity to light, you should consult a specialist. Are there any unpleasant side effects related to the Q.Light therapy? Unpleasant side effects are not known as yet. The light spectrum of Q.Light contains no ultraviolet light components. As a result, neither a bronzing nor a heat effect is achieved on the skin.

  7. Can Q.Light also be applied during injuries?

Yes. Light therapy speeds up the natural healing process e.g. in accident injuries, sport injuries as well as in rehabilitation. Experiences show, that the healing process can be activated even in difficult wounds.

  8. Can wounds be treated?

Yes. The wound must at first be cleaned and disinfected. The natural healing process is also activated even by difficult, long-standing chronic wounds. After the wound is cleaned, light therapy is applied. One must ensure that the wound edges do not heal faster than the remaining tissue. If this should happen, pains can result. In such a case it is advisable to stop the light therapy for three to five days and then continue with the light treatment. Since the skin can regenerate better by light therapy, it is mostly cured without non-aesthetic scar formation. Regular control through a specialist by chronic wounds is to be recommended.

  9. Can I apply Q.Light too often?

No. But the therapeutic effectiveness can not necessarily be increased by too frequent or too long applications. The specified therapy times and therapy distances for the Q.Light therapy yield a specific dose (quantity of light per session). Therefore, follow the information in the Q.Light® documentation.

  10. When can I expect the first results?

    • Wound care 3 days to 2 weeks
    • Dermatosis 1 to 2 weeks
    • Pain 1 to 2 days
    • Acne 2 weeks to 1 month (varies)
    • Wrinkles 1 to 2 months
    • SAD 1 to 2 weeks
  11. Which time of day is best for the application of Q.Light?

In the morning and in the evening. Much more important than the time of day is that you really take your time for your light treatment and take it regularly or even daily to achieve the desired therapy result. Relax during light therapy processing.

  12. How deep does the Q.Light light penetrate through the skin surface?

Light waves of different wavelengths penetrate through our skin at unequal depths. Violet light and blue light components penetrate least through skin while orange and red light components penetrate deepest. In this way, the immune system is stimulated since visible light reaches blood cells through fine capillaries close to the skin surface (= photo modulation of blood). That is how the biopositive effect of Q.Light light therapy is transported by our blood the entire body.

  13. Why should the skin be clean before light treatment?

So that the light is neither reflected nor distracted by dirt or fat particles on the skin surface.

  14. Can Q.LightŪ light therapy cause cancer?

No! The wavelengths dangerous for the human being are under 250 nm (= low ULTRAVIOLET light range). The spectrum of the Q.Light® devices is between 385 – 780 nm in the therapeutically effective energy field of the visible light spectrum .
